Do you feel confident buying stocks that aren’t hot / not talked about by cnbc/reddit etc?

Because I open a screener and let it do it's thing. I haven't ever taken a position though because I'm a poopy pants – no but the real reason is that I'd first like to save a good amount of money and then start my journey.
